Coxiella burnetii

COXIELLA BURNETII

Coxiella burnetii is a bacterium Negative Gram , etiologic agent of fever Q , a disease that manifests itself with fever accompanied by myalgia, headache, vomiting and possibly skin exanthema.

The bacterium is present in the mints, which are the main vector : they are transmitted both by wild animals and by pets and breeding (cattle and sheep). Human infection occurs after inhalation of contaminated aerosol from feces or urine dried or by contact with the vaginal mucus or sperm of infected animals or by ingestion of milk not pasteurised .

Microorganisms of the genus Coxiella proliferate in the respiratory tract and then disseminate to other organs. This small rod-shaped microorganism differs from Rickettsia because once endocytosed multiplies within the phagolysosoma where the pH acid promotes multiplication.
